Letter to Yvonne head of ZOPOM in Australia below:
My Dear Yvonne,
I’m sure you are more than busy and I hate to trouble you but do you have any idea of when the food shipment might arrive. I’m trying to make what we have last till then, but don’t know exactly when “then” might be.
A huge thanks for all of you working so hard to save the day here. Our troubles are increasing as with the highest inflation rate in the world and for the last 6,000 years, add to that the starvation, no rain and time to plant, and now a serious outbreak of cholera. Seven villages around us are affected as well as high density suburbs in Mutare and Harare, and I’m guessing the deaths are already in the thousands, but certain people are not going to release that news for fear of generating fear and despondency!
Today I’m so tired I can hardly sit up to the computer, but I just wnated to make this inquiry, then I’ll give up and go lay down..
